can benefit?

wellbeing of their child may benefit from a consultation with Dr.
Pontillo. Together, we can decide if you and your child would benefit
from further assistance, and can work towards a specific plan that
suits your family's needs.

When
is the right time to seek help for my child?
|
If
you have concerns about your infant, toddler, preschooler or school-aged
child, now is the time to act. Research has consistently shown that
early identification and intervention yield the most positive outcome.

child is only 2 years old. Isn't he too young to see a psychologist?
|
Absolutely
not. Dr. Pontillo has extensive experience working with infants as
young as 3 months and their parents/families. In fact, early identification
and intervention for even the most minor of concerns is known to
promote the best overall outcome for both child and caregiver.

I'm
unsure I need professional services for my child. How do I know
for sure?

This
is a difficult question to answer. However if you have any concern,
many parents find it helpful to have a complimentary telephone consultation
with Dr. Pontillo. Together you can determine whether you and your
child could benefit from further assistance.

What
does an evaluation consist of?
|
The
nature and content of the evaluation itself will vary based on
the question/concern and age of the child. Evaluations may include
some or all of the following components:

Interviews
with parents, teachers, and/or other treating health professionals.

Specific
tests designed to assess developmental/cognitive or academic
skills.

Behavioral
observations of the child either within the office, at school,
or in the home.

A
prepared written report detailing the evaluation results and
specific recommendations.

A
feedback session in order to go over the results and recommendations.
